Transit center poised to be regional hub
PALMDALE - With the opening of the $11 million Palmdale Transportation Center, the city is poised to become the hub of regional transportation, Mayor Jim Ledford said. "It's more than just a train station... It's designed to be a place where people meet, where people come together," Ledford said. "It's what I'd call the signature building for our downtown. We thought the Civic Center complex was great, but this takes us to another level," he said.

In the future, the center is expected to serve as a shuttle connection to the Palmdale Regional Airport as well as a stop on the state's high-speed rail system, the mayor said. Councilman Richard Loa called the city's new transportation center "a giant step forward in what is a fabulous community to live in - not just Palmdale, but the region." "This is the present, but we're looking to the future, and this is a key to what that future will be," Loa said.
