| The Lancaster facility, in the fox Field Industrial
area near 47th Street West and Avenue G, will be the
company's 16th distribution center nationwide. The
company has two other distribution centers in California,
one in Rancho Cucamonga and the other in Stockton. The
110,000-square-foot distribution center, of which about a
third will be dedicated for cold storage, is expected to
be open by November and employ as many as 163 people
initially. "SYGMA is indicative of nationally ranked
firms that are attracted to Lancaster," Mayor Frank
Roberts said. |

| Through its distribution facilities, SYGMA maintains
a weekly fleet of more than 1,400 vehicles that provide
more than 20,000 multiple deliveries each week to service
more than 11,200 chain restaurant customers nationwide.
SYGMA parent company, SYSCO Corp., is ranked 60th on the
2005 Fortune 500 ranking of the nation's largest
companies. "They just don't get any bigger,"
Roberts said. "So you can see why Lancaster is so
proud." |

| Roberts also noted the 110,000-square-foot
distribution center will add approximately $7.5 million
to the city's tax rolls. The distribution center will be
built on a 20-acre parcel near Barnes Avenue and Avenue
G. Company officials worked with the city to develop a
site plan that will enable SYGMA to expand the center to
230,000 square feet with an estimated work force of
between 320 to 350 employees. |
