Hilton hotels on way to AV
LANCASTER - By this time next year, the city plans to unveil a large addition to its development landscape. During a Friday morning press conference, the Hilton company, along with city officials, announced plans to build two three-story hotels in Lancaster. "This commitment in our community shows that the image of Lancaster is a positive one," Mayor Frank Roberts said. "A world-class firm like this is selective in choosing their business partners, and it is a feather in our cap to be chosen to partner with them on this project."

K-Partners Hospitality Group will develop a 93-room Homewood Suites and an 86-room Hampton Inn & Suites near Clear Channel Stadium adjacent to the Antelope Valley Freeway. "We are confident in the continuation of the boom the Antelope Valley has experienced the last two years and look forward to working closely with the city of Lancaster to achieve mutual goals," said Timothy Sanford, chief operating officer of K-Partners Hospitality Group.

This project will be a major component of the city's Front Row Center development area. The area is presently home to the Cinemark 22 theatres; a Johnny Rebs restaurant is slated to built nearby. "This is a first-class addition to the city," City manager Bob LaSala said. "These hotels will be an asset that will make attracting restaurants to Front Row Center easier." Both hotels are part of the Hilton family, with Homewood Suites an upscale extended-stay property and Hampton Inn & Suites accommodating business and leisure travelers.

"Hilton is extremely pleased to affiliate our good name in the city of Lancaster, and we look forward to a long, mutually beneficial partnership with the city and K-Partners Hospitality Group," Hilton Vice President Greg Francois said. Francois called Lancaster an ideal location for development, pointing at demographics and recreational opportunities.

"Tracking the demographics of business and seeing new restaurants and shopping is a strong indicator of where and when to build," he said. "We rate the attainability as well as the third-party feasibility and Lancaster was a good match." The proposal also includes plans to build a full-service hotel on the property if demand dictates. "These will be a test to rank the economic viability," Francois said. "If they do well, we may decide to put in a full-service hotel such as a Hilton or Embassy Suites." The Hilton family owns approximately 27,000 hotels.
