The population influx from an overcrowded Los Angeles is already so substantial that the Valley's two anchor cities, Lancaster and Palmdale, rank among the fastest developing communities in the nation. The continued phenomenal growth of this area is due to the steady influx of people from the Los Angeles basin that can no longer afford to live there. The cost of a single family home here is only a fraction of the cost of housing in those areas.

Area construction is booming. New houses appear daily, followed by the businesses and retail operations required to support the expanding community.

Commercial and Residential developers, industrialists, and the worlds' largest Wal-Mart (now 4 stores including 2 brand new stores just completed) have seized the opportunities in the Antelope Valley. Antelope Valley Hospital has broken ground for a new $20 million Radiology center and Medical Plaza that is located on 15th Street West; the building will be over 80,000 square feet. This type of facility will provide needed services that are not readily available in the area and be another jewel to improve the quality of life locally.

The City of Palmdale is due to break ground in the next few weeks on a new transportation center that will be home to a Metrolink train station, Park and Ride Lot and bus transfer center. the center will become an access point for travelers for the Palmdale Airport when passenger service begins.
